Never underestimate the power of a woman with a box full of tools. Today's women are becoming more and more resourceful and are quickly relying less and less on men to help them with everyday tasks.
Gone are the days when only men were seen carrying around power drills and two-by-fours. Nowadays, women are just as capable of fixing their own problems - and many would agree that some women are actually more capable than their male counterparts.
Women who are just starting to build their toolbox should consider adding the following tools. These are considered 'essential' tools in every woman's toolbox (and don't expect to see tweezers or hair dryers in this list, ladies).
1. A Screwdriver Set. An essential item in every toolkit, a screwdriver set can be used for many things. Available in an array of styles to suit the needs of men and women, a screwdriver set should include at least one screwdriver and a number of heads to choose from. Different heads make it easier to insert screws of all shapes and sizes.
2. A Hammer. An obvious choice for any tool owner, a hammer is definitely a multi-purpose tool. Hammers are used to insert nails into walls, floors, ceilings and more. Most hammers will also come with a nail-removal feature which (if you turn the hammer around) you'll see a device that can rip inserted nails out of the wall, floor etc.
3. A Wrench. A wrench is probably one of the most underrated tools in its category. A wrench can be used for a few different things but its main purpose is for unscrewing screws. Without a wrench, you're pretty much stuck with any screw you (or even someone else) have decided to put in your home/yard. Needless to say, a wrench is critical component when it comes to your toolbox.
4. Pliers. Pliers are used to pick up small things or to hold objects firmly in place. They can also be used for bending or cutting materials like wire. Needle-nose pliers are generally the most popular form of this tool, although round-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers are also a popular choice. There are countless forms of pliers, so make sure you purchase the style that suits your needs best.
5. Measuring Tape. Commonly used to measure how tall a person is, measuring tape is another multipurpose hand tool. Not only can this form of tape be used to measure the size of rooms, furniture etc. but it can also be used as a level to make sure you're lining something straight (most commonly, pictures).
If you're thinking of starting a toolbox, we highly suggest the tools above. We hope our tips have helped you become the handywoman you've always dreamed of being. And remember; never underestimate the power of a woman with a box full of tools. Ever.
