When you think of a Plumber you think of broken pipes and pipe wrenches. You may also think that it is a "monkey wrench" when in fact it is not. Yes that is normally people call them, but they are incorrect. The term monkey wrench actually refers to an uncommon type of adjustable wrench more so used for nuts instead of pipes. Obviously you use a pipe wrench for loosening pipes, but did you know that you cannot or should not use one on ALL types of pipe? Pipe wrenches work best on softer metals that they can grip their teeth into. However there are different types that you can use. So depending on the job, would depend on the pipe wrench needed. There are six different types that you can get, the end pipe wrench, the offset wrench, the compound leverage, chain pipe, the strap and the straight pipe. The strap one is used on smooth surfaces that cannot have teeth marks left in them. Like plastic or plated pipes. There are many options depending on the task you have.

The pipe wrench has many different sizes you can get. The most common are 10, 14, 18, 24, 36 and 48 inches long. They are available in smaller and larger sizes so check the task your completing for proper tool size. The teeth on the wrench are angled so that the teeth will dig into the pipe or rod your trying to loosen.
